Sergey Mikhailovich Solovyov (1820–1879) was a Russian historian, professor at Moscow University (since 1848), rector of Moscow University (1871–1877), and an ordinary academician of the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences in the department of Russian language and literature (1872). He was a Privy Councillor. “A View on the Establishment of the State Order in Russia before Peter the Great,” “Public Readings about Peter the Great.” Sergey Solovyov is an outstanding Russian historian and author of the course “History of Russia,” still relevant to this day. The public lectures “A View on the History of Establishing the State Order in Russia before Peter the Great” were delivered by Solovyov in 1851 at Moscow University. The public readings about Peter the Great were written for the 200th anniversary of Peter I and read in 1872.
