"The Procrustean Bed of Time" is the first book of the cycle "Time Synchronization." A GRU special forces team, tasked with destroying a secret terrorist laboratory, gets sent back to the 13th century—namely, the era of the famed commander, Prince Alexander Nevsky. The novel’s main hero, Timur Murtazin, who is transported through time along with the special forces, turns out to be a very mysterious person. Gradually it becomes clear that he has supernatural abilities. But even Timur himself still doesn’t fully understand what makes him so extraordinary.
The heroes of the cycle will go through countless adventures and take part in events known to us from the history of Ancient Rus’—the Battle of Neva and the Battle on the Ice.
So what is the purpose of the time-displaced newcomers in all this? After all, they didn’t just end up deep in the past for no reason. You can learn about it by reading the cycle "Time Synchronization."
