Liam and Rachel are aliens from the future and employees of the Royal Institute of Highly Specialized Physics. They are sent back to the year 1815 after it becomes known that the great writer Jane Austen wrote not six, but seven novels. The seventh, previously thought to be unfinished, she completed—and then destroyed. Now Liam and Rachel must do more than win Jane Austen’s trust and that of her entire family; somehow they have to steal the novel before she destroys it.
But, of course, the future has a hard time dealing with the past, and on Liam and Rachel’s path there are not only unexpected difficulties tied to the social conventions of that time. Gradually they begin to wonder whether it is ethical to play with time—even if the stakes are not only the unknown novel of Jane Austen, but also her life.
