Description
The plot of “Turandot” is borrowed from Persian fairy tales and offers one of the versions of a motif widely found in world folklore about wedding riddles posed by the bride to her suitors—where the losers pay with their lives. The hero of the play is the Tatar prince Kalaf, who is ready to go to his death to win the love of the beautiful Chinese princess Turandot.
