Fairy tales have existed since ancient times. People didn’t invent fairy tales themselves—great storytellers simply retold what they had heard. And stories existed that way for thousands of years. Thanks to human memory, many fairy tales were created based on events that really happened. People are drawn to everything unknown and mysterious. And when stories were told, completely ordinary events were described as almost supernatural. The characters of fairy tales were creatures similar to humans, but endowed with magical power. They could become invisible or change their form; often they appeared in images of animals or birds. They could pass through walls and other solid objects. They could predict the future. Some were immortal, others lived for hundreds of years. The names of fairy-tale characters are different in each country—there are fairies, elves, gnomes, household spirits, goblins, trolls, and so on.
The fairy tale “The Prince of Northsear” is Scottish. In it, you will have to meet a fairy-tale princess and a black bull, which will surely turn into a real prince.
