Claire Roddenberg came to New York from England looking for work. She’s an actress, but she takes any job because she has no residence permit. That’s how she met the unusual detective Frank DeBerran, who, at the request of his clients, checks their husbands for the ability to cheat. He needed a lure for such work, and Claire—with her acting skills—fit the role better than anyone. One day, the detective’s client was found brutally murdered in a hotel room. Her husband comes under suspicion, and to gather evidence of his involvement—or lack of it—the police turn again to Claire for help.
