A fantastic fairy tale for younger and middle-grade school children.
A book written, according to the author, based on a diary kept during his journey by Nikolay Redkin, a Soviet schoolboy—about whom it’s enough to say that “his resourcefulness and fearlessness impress even specialists who deal with the theory of heroism.”
The author of the book is the editor of a wall newspaper. She received this diary in exchange for fulfilling two requirements: to write a book about an astonishing journey and to preserve the facts presented in the diary.
The results of her work are best summed up by the author herself: “…dear reader, before you is a book about the adventures of Kolya Redkin.
I fulfilled his condition: everything written here was taken from the diary of my famous neighbor. I added nothing and took nothing away. I didn’t have to invent or make things up. I only corrected some spelling mistakes, inserted commas, and changed the word order where needed.”
