During the whole flight from Vladivostok to Tokyo, Irina and Натка worried whether they’d made the right decision by working as dancers in Japan. On the other hand—what could they lose? There was no good work; the “new Russians” had snapped up the girls quickly; and the lack of money had grown unbearable.
They wanted to live beautifully. And as it turned out later, they also wanted to live—just live.
