“20 August. To the Chief of the Main Directorate for Criminal Investigation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR.
On the attack by a group of robbers on cash couriers transporting 150,000 rubles from the Yuginsk State Bank to the “Banner of Labor” factory for wage disbursement.
We report: On 20 August at 15:15, an armed attack was carried out on the vehicle transporting wages and stopped at the checkpoint of the “Banner of Labor” factory in the city of Yuzhinsk. After the plant cashier B. P. Cherevchenko—along with the money bag—and the accompanying VOHR shooter S. N. Lukin exited the vehicle, fire was opened from a “Moskvich” car № 14–10 parked among other cars at the checkpoint; the series was not established. The shooters were not noticed at first because they were lying on the floor and seats of the car. Aiming shots wounded Cherevchenko and Lukin in the hands; they were unable to put up further resistance. Seizing the money bag, four masked attackers got into the “Moskvich” car № 14–10 and disappeared. Searches for the robbers and the vehicle produced no results.
