Charles Dickens, who published “A Christmas Carol in Prose” in 1843 about the old and gloomy miser Ebenezer Scrooge, is commonly considered the founder of the Christmas story genre in the scope of world literature. The classic Christmas (or holiday) tale always has a bright, joyful ending, and good invariably triumphs. That’s how it is with Scrooge, who loves only his money—after meeting the spirits, he changes his outlook. In the following years, Dickens continued writing such stories, often co-authored, publishing them at the end of the year in journals he himself ran.
The Ardys audio studio offers you a collection of Christmas stories, “The Adventures of Doctor Marigold” (1865), which includes stories by Dickens himself as well as by five of his contemporaries.
