The landowner Lomov has decided once and for all that waiting for an ideal or true love is pointless, because then he will never get married. And so he comes with a proposal to the daughter of the landowner Chubukov. But the engagement was hanging by a thread because of the lovers’ dispute: whose, after all, are the Cow’s Meadows?
