Alexander Arkhangelsky is a well-known Russian literary scholar, publicist, and writer, as well as the host and director of the program “Meanwhile…” and the documentary film series “Factories of Memory: Libraries of the World” on the Culture TV channel.
His new book “The Ant’s Rule,” written in the best traditions of Russian satire, is truly unique. On the one hand, it’s a fairy tale about brave cats who live in a fictional country and lead a wonderful cat life full of tricks, cunning, and wild passions. On the other hand, it’s about us with you. Because cats are always terribly similar to their owners…
It’s also remarkable in that it will be interesting for both adults and teenagers: everyone will find something of their own. Teenagers will be drawn in by an exciting, dynamic plot and fantastic characters, while adults will appreciate the subtle satire and witty humor of the author.
Another distinctive feature of the book, setting it apart from the rest of today’s prose, is that it is published as a study project as part of the course “Modern Book Publishing” of the master’s program “Multimedia Journalism” at HSE University.
