There is Presence, as real for us as we are for each other. And one day, once you feel and experience this Presence, the share of personal effort in your life begins to diminish. And when this Presence is recognized, then we will also discover what It is capable of: taking the form of new organs and functions of the body, the form of a house, a family, or satisfaction of needs, the form of relationships with people, and sometimes—even the form of empty parking space for a car. “I can do nothing by Myself,” says the human Jesus, but then—when awareness of Presence comes—He says: “I have food that you do not know.” Later comes the third stage, when God speaks as individual Being: “I am the way and the truth and the life.” This is the Word made flesh. God embodied, walking on earth—and ultimately, this is the calling of every person. Now meditation enters its final phase. And here, when the person is nothing, non-being, the Father says—reigns, heals, redeems, and guides—then all this life is carried out by the Father.
