Nikita Efremov, Yevgeny Tsyganov, Sergey Garmash, Leonid Yarmolnik, and Anton Shagin joined forces in the legendary collection “Tales by the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin.” Each of them brought Pушkin’s texts with their own voice and acting talent.
Pushkin invented Ivan Petrovich Belkin in 1830. He is a provincial landowner, a retired soldier, and an aspiring writer who, as it turns out, was not destined to live to see his fame. His stories—according to the publisher—were recorded from the words of his acquaintances, and, judging by all appearances, are based on real events. At the same time, the collection turned out very diverse for its time: realism is blended with sentimentality and romanticism on the edge of the gothic.
The actors felt each story and masterfully conveyed its mood. Anton Shagin read “The Shot,” Sergey Garmash—“The Undertaker,” and “The Blizzard” sounds with Nikita Efremov’s voice. Yevgeny Tsyganov voiced “The Stationmaster,” and Leonid Yarmolnik tells us the story of “The Young Lady-Peasant.” The publisher’s foreword was read by Kirill Radtsig.
