Description
The collection includes three stories by Boris Pilnyak. The scandalous “Tale of the Unextinguished Moon” (1926) stayed on sale for only two days, after which the entire print run was seized. In the book, they saw a hidden hint at the violent nature of the death of the commander M. V. Frunze, who, by order of the country’s leadership, was sent for an operation that ended fatally. In the story “Штосс into Life” (1928), which covers the last days of the life of Yu. M. Lermontov, the author examines the circumstances of the fatal duel.

The story “Zavolochiye” (1925) describes a scientific expedition into the far north beyond the Polar regions, showing how the harsh conditions of the march and constant struggle for survival destroy the human in people and awaken the animal.
