Journalist Madison Warner plans to interview her relative, the former model Precious Dubois, and write an article about fashion during World War II. Together with her old acquaintance Colin—who once had a crush on her—Madison studies Precious’s letters and photographs. This leads her to an astonishing discovery, and also to the thought that she should track down Precious’s old friend, Eve, whose identity has been shrouded in mystery for years.
