“The Picture of Dorian Gray” is one of the most famous works by the English writer Oscar Wilde. The novel’s hero, the young handsome Dorian, wishes to remain young forever. He can hardly imagine that this might be possible. But one artist paints a portrait of Dorian in his best years, when neither the seal of sin nor vice has yet ruined the hero’s soul and face. The portrait is destined to become Dorian’s conscience, because only in the painting does the influence of his sins reflect itself, while Dorian remains, outwardly, young and beautiful.
