The Flight of the Falcon

The Flight of the Falcon

Description
Armino Fabbio works as a guide for a travel company. Together with tourists on a bus, he moves from one Italian city to another. This kind of life suits him just fine. But an incident that happens in Rome (near a church, a beggar-woman is killed, and Armino recognizes her as a servant who once worked in his parents’ home) forces the hero to leave his job and return to Ruffano—the town where he spent his childhood. There, unexpectedly for himself, he finds a brother who was believed to have died in 1943. Though it’s hard to call this meeting a joyful one.

Aldo, a university professor, lives in a world of his own fantasies, presenting himself as Duke Claudio—nicknamed the Falcon—who, a few centuries before the events of the present, lived in Ruffano and terrified the entire population of the town. This thin line between the real and the future, between fiction and reality, at first glance seems so fragile—yet in reality it turns out to be so solid that only death can break it.
