The audiobook includes articles created as part of the “Shelf” project launched in 2017. The project aims to identify key works of Russian literature. Experts compiled a list of 108 works that left a significant mark on history, expanded the boundaries of literature, influenced language, society, and thinking, and also brought new knowledge about the world and human beings. The list includes novels, novellas, short stories, plays, poems, and literary memoirs—from “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign” to “Oblomov.” The authors aimed to present clear and accessible information about each work, based on a wide range of scholarly and critical literature; to place it within a broader literary context and reveal the influence of other texts on it, as well as its impact on other works.
