Taming the Groom

“You need to play the role of my fiancée,” the audacious son of the rector announces to me.

“And besides that, do I need anything else?” I raise my voice in anger. I try to break free, but he won’t let go—he grips my hand tightly.

“Shh. I’m not asking for much. You’ll have to do it,” a smirk spreads across his face, and his darkening brown eyes pierce me through.

“No! You’re the last person I’ll ever want to help. Ask some other fool.”

“Why? I’ll make you change your mind.”

“I was saved by a heartless rich guy. Too late to panic! He decided that all his whims would be granted at the snap of his fingers. He’ll get a snap from me—right on the forehead and on the crown of your head!”
