Before giving the manuscript to a publishing house, the co-authors, as always, sent it to their reader-testers. Someone was delighted, someone was outraged, someone sent a list of wishes—but no one stopped reading. The most popular phrase in the reviews is: “I read all night and couldn’t put it down.” Perhaps that’s because the heroine ends up in a very atypical situation and gets out of it in an unconventional way. Also, the people she encounters are rarely the kind you meet in real life: a top model, a cool car racer, a wunderkind who is no longer a wunderkind at all. The events spiral out of control— and now the parents of the main heroine, people quite ordinary, start doing things that are uncharacteristic for them, leading to unpredictable consequences. There is no full happy ending, and yet the book leaves hope that even at the very edge, you can still make the right choice.
