The Search for Sri Krishna: Beautiful Reality

“Vedanta-sutra” proclaims: “Question the highest cause of reality. Search for it!” How did everything arise? How does everything exist? By whom is everything sustained? And where does everything go after its destruction? The Vedas state that the spirit, Brahman—this is the beginning from which everything comes. Everything is sustained by it, and in it everything that exists finds completion.

“Vedanta-sutra” calls upon everyone to seek this original cause. But Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the greatest Vaishnava scripture, “Shrimad-Bhagavatam,” replaced that call to search with a call to seek Sri Krishna. In this book, Srila Sridhara Maharaj explains thoroughly and with great care that searching for the highest spiritual principle does not bring full satisfaction to the soul. Yet sincere longing for the Lord, for Sri Krishna, can satisfy our most urgent need—our heart’s need for love.

All of us search for love, beauty, and happiness. The Lord, as the source of all this, can quench our thirst. The book reveals the true nature of living beings, the importance of saintly mentors and sacred scriptures in the life of everyone who strives for authentic spirituality, the different stages of understanding God, the mysteries of devotional prayerful обращения to God, and the facets of the Beautiful Reality. Srila Prabhupada said that association with Sridhara Maharaj would bring immense benefit to anyone. We cannot meet this saint directly, but his spiritual instructions live on in his books.
