The end of the 19th century. The diamond rush in South Africa. People who have invested their entire fortune in a diamond expedition and staked their fate on it are sometimes ready for any crime and madness for the sake of a handful of glittering stones. And then a rumor spreads through the diggings that three desperate Frenchmen have obtained a map showing the way to the treasures of the Kaffir kings.
