On one of those hot July days, the children decided to change the water in the goldfish tank. Not just by topping it up with clean water from a bucket—but by carrying the aquarium to an overgrown pond and scooping fresh water directly from it. They seemed to have thought of everything, but somehow, in the most inexplicable way, the fish slipped into the pond, flicked its tail, and vanished from sight. Their heartbroken companions tried to find it, but the golden beauty was gone without a trace.
Meanwhile, for a moment the fish—shocked by the enormous depths of water revealed to it after the cramped, stuffy tank—set off to meet the new, unexplored world and its inhabitants.
