“We’re expecting a baby, Slava,” my sister blurts out, pressing herself to my husband. “He’s always loved only me, and you were… just a temporary pastime!”

“Three years we were together, and you were cheating on me with my own sister?” I ask my husband.

I place my hand on my belly, stroking it. I wanted to share the happy news with him… And then—my husband in the same bed with my sister.

“I loved her my whole life. I wanted to marry her, but I was forbidden,” Ilya answers with mockery. “Over time I started pitying you. I couldn’t get a divorce, I endured it all. But now I understand that it was for nothing…”

“All this time I was going against my parents’ will, protecting you, even though they warned me what a scoundrel you are. They said you’d leave me as soon as you wouldn’t need me anymore. But I didn’t believe them…”
