The story of the novella “Suburban Evenings” takes place in a former pioneer camp near the capital, where children from well-off families are gathered—children whom their parents believe need “re-education.” Part of them are so-called “indigo children,” part are simply difficult teenagers—hostages of the internet. The camp’s creative director, together with a team of educators, is tasked with shaking up this self-satisfied audience and bringing it back to reality, returning the children “to themselves—true selves.” But the events didn’t go according to the educational authorities’ plan, and in the camp, astonishing and unexpected things began to happen. Life, as always, turns out to be richer and trickier than any plan.
Using the most modern and relevant material, the author addresses a basically eternal problem: the relationship between fathers and children, the clash between modern society and those who are preparing to enter it very soon.
