Eugene (Eugenie) Mars is well over fifty. One day, when she gives up her seat on the bus, she realizes that life is heading toward the sunset, and ahead there is only loneliness and fading. Her husband left for a young woman, and her daughter—who studies—tortures her with endless nitpicking and mockery. One time, while dining in a restaurant with two tiresome girlfriends, she notices a young waiter: his light, dancing gait fascinates her.
