Description
“Through Manchuria, 1900–1901” is a book of observations by Russian lieutenant general and memoirist Alexander V. Vereshchagin. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Vereshchagin is assigned to the Far East, from where he sets out on a journey through Chinese provinces. After studying and visiting such cities as Port Arthur, Mukden, and Beijing, he not only feels no contempt for the foreign culture of Asia’s peoples, but also strives to get to know the remarkable people who multiply their treasures.
