“Fruits of the Earth” is a novel by Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun, for which he received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1920. The novel begins with a man named Isaac coming to the forest, where he starts setting up his new home. Soon, a girl named Inger joins him. Together with Isaac, they run a household that, after a short time, becomes quite large. The work describes their life—filled with many problems, both good events and bad ones. The growing household of Isaac and Inger leads to the appearance of envious people, who drive Inger to a crime for which she had to spend 6 years in the Trondheim prison.
