Description
The “Ardis” audio studio offers you a work by the French writer, philosopher and educator Denis Diderot (1713–1784): “Rameau’s Nephew.” It was presumably written in the 1760s, but first published only in the 19th century. Modern researchers consider it “the pinnacle of Diderot’s artistic creation.”

Diderot’s piece is presented as a dialogue: in the morning, following his usual routine, the narrator goes to the Café de la Régence, where he meets Rameau’s nephew, the composer’s nephew (a well-known figure in Paris at the time). Anticipating Russo’s provocative—almost cynical—glances, Rameau’s nephew praises theft and a parasitic way of living at someone else’s expense.

This edition also includes an article about the author, notes on the book, and an article by Wolfgang Goethe devoted to the work. The audiobook is recorded in the form of a dialogue as well, which makes the text much easier to grasp.
