Timur Hajji Pulatov is one of the most famous prose writers of the former USSR, a people’s writer of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. In 1991 he was elected the first secretary of the Board of the Union of Writers of the USSR; later, for several years, T. Pulatov headed the International Union of Writers’ Unions. He is the author of a number of screenplays for feature films, and worked as chief editor of the film studio “Uzbekfilm.” Pulatov’s novels, novellas, and stories have been translated into Arabic, Urdu, Persian, Hindi, English, and other languages, and have been published in many countries around the world.
