Five friends from the Californian backwoods spend their last summer together, because in the fall they’ll have to go their separate ways for college. “Monsters”—that’s what their group was called at school—have been friends since childhood and even created their own code of honor. Even though they’re very different—Violet, a rich beauty; Drummer, a charming joker; Mo, sincere; Luke, unstoppable; and rational Hanna—they’ve grown close over school years. However, it only takes the first spark of a forest fire for hidden anger, envy, and secret motives to show through the illusion of closeness—motives that threaten to destroy not only the friendship but the life of each of the “Monsters.”
