Heart of Flames

Lorelei is a half-elf in a kingdom where that lineage is synonymous with the word “slave.” King Umbra keeps everyone imprisoned with his pet dragon, which shows no mercy. Lorelei hides in the shadows and steals to stay alive until a group of rebels makes her an offer she can’t refuse. The king is searching for a bride. If Lorelei can get close enough to him, she can drive a dagger into the heart of this evil man. But the wedding games are more complicated than most others. Lorelei must prove she’s not only beautiful, but also talented, balanced, and deadly—like the king. However, the closer she gets to saving her kingdom, the more she realizes there’s a sharp problem in her path. The dragon. The king’s bodyguard is something more than a bloodthirsty beast. He is a man. And the longer she stays near him, the more she understands that maybe the king isn’t the most dangerous person in the kingdom.
