A Letter to the Dalai Lama

Description
“The Letter of the Dalai Lama” — a dynamic historical detective story about a young gendarme, Matvei Karelina, geopolitical games of the early 20th century, and love capable of sacrifice and forgiveness.

1907. Karelina arrives in Kyakhta to meet, at the border with China, the participants of the international rally “Peking — Paris,” led by Prince Borezë. But a fire breaks out in a fuel warehouse prepared for the racers. Apparently, someone is trying to stop the leading crew — and Karelina begins an investigation.

Aglaya, the governor-general’s niece, learns about the trouble befalling the Borezë team and, with the courage and curiosity she’s always had, decides to step in and help — not suspecting that by doing so she is putting herself in danger.

Meanwhile, Kyakhta is shaken by a chain of strange events, and Karelina realizes that behind what’s happening are not minor smugglers, but forces far more influential and dangerous. He has only a few days to unravel the conspiracy, pull Aglaya out of trouble, and get out of the city alive.
