Description
The ARDIS audio studio presents, in the original language, George Bernard Shaw’s famous play "Pygmalion". George Bernard Shaw is a brilliant playwright, a classic of English literature of the late 19th to early 20th century, and a Nobel Prize laureate in 1925. "Pygmalion" is a sparkling comedy whose essence lies in the wager between phonetics professor Mr. Higgins and Colonel Pickering. Higgins claims that, thanks to his knowledge and teaching ability, he can turn the simple flower seller Eliza Doolittle into a secular lady. The experiment begins. But its course is disrupted by human relationships suddenly arising between the two men and one girl. Eliza Doolittle, belonging to the lower class, in terms of character and way of thinking turns out to be better than her teacher—an outwardly intelligent, aristocratic phonetics professor. In this strange-at-first contradiction lies the sharpness and satire of Shaw’s play, its success with many generations of viewers and readers. The ending of the comedy remains open—what will happen next to the little flower seller, who handled the role of a noble lady so well?
