Because of political and economic challenges, “the Earth” is forced not to wind down an unsuccessful plan to colonize other planets and instead to gather colonists. Ships have been sent to dozens of colony planets with orders to bring people home. But Mitra looks like an exception: it’s the only colony that resembles paradise, where you can breathe without a spacesuit and don’t have to fear for your life.
