“Pedagogical Poem” is the most famous work of the Soviet educator and writer A.S. Makarenko.
It tells about the re-education of underage juvenile offenders in a children’s labor colony, which the author created and led in the 1920s. Makarenko developed the idea that a labor collective is a nurturing environment for the development of personality and individuality. In his relationships with the students, he followed the principle: “as many demands as possible on a person and as much respect as possible for them.”
The book is intended for a wide range of readers as well as for educators, parents, and students of pedagogical universities.
