A psychological detective thriller by Jean-Christophe Grangé, author of screen-adapted thrillers, an international reporter, and winner of prestigious awards Reuter, World Press, RTL-Livres, Choix des libraires, and Livre de poche.
The story of psychiatrist Mathias Freier, whose fate is completely changed after visiting a patient suffering from amnesia. During the examination, the doctor discovers in his patient the syndrome of “the passenger without luggage”—and soon it begins to manifest in him, too. But that is not all. Terrifying events have made Mathias Freier the prime suspect in a series of brutal murders that are a projection of the myths of Ancient Greece. Mysterious occurrences begin to haunt the psychiatrist, while the police see him as a serial maniac.
To avoid prison and break out of the vicious circle, the hero must trust in his own innocence and find irrefutable proof. Ironically, only the police commissioner Anaïs Chatel can help with the answers—she is determined, at any cost, to prove the main character’s guilt and send him behind bars.
