Description
Prosper Island is one of three islands of a small archipelago, lost in the vastness of the oceans and isolated from the rest of the world and humankind—or what remains of it.

The island’s population lives in a privileged position. They are watched over by auxiliary staff who live in cramped conditions on a neighboring island. And when the residents of Prosper grow old, they are sent to the third island—the Nursery—where their bodies are reborn anew, their memories of past lives are erased, and rejuvenated old people return to Prosper.

Proctor Bennett is a ferry operator. His job is to deliver people to the Nursery. He has never doubted the usefulness of his work—until one day, while transporting his own father, he hears him say: “This world isn’t the world.” What do those words mean? Why do they echo in his head in strange dreams of sea and stars? Why does he have a persistent feeling that someone is trying to tell him something incredibly, incredibly important—something that can change not only his fate, but the fate of everyone living here.
