Paris Welcomes with Rain

A former convict, adventurer, and dreamer Solomons travels to Tahiti after getting out of prison. When he returns, he visits Vera Belova, the director of a travel agency, showing his “acquisitions”: old letters bought in Paris. What piqued interest was a romantic message written by some Frenchman more than a quarter of a century earlier. Wanting to know how the French “love story” ended, Belova goes to Paris with a group of clients. On a rainy autumn day she meets Thierry—a cultured, awkward Frenchman—without yet realizing how he is connected to the heroes of the mysterious letter. For this newly minted “businesswoman,” it’s time to find out who that reckless woman was—the “butterfly” to whom love was confessed so passionately. And to reach the truth—discovering that sometimes “the world at one’s feet,” offered sincerely and generously, may amount to nothing more than a dab of paint on a ceiling, symbolizing “grass” for the beloved. “When love runs out in the world, the human story will end…”—this is the theme of the novel.
