“Paris from Caesar to Saint Louis. Origins and Shores” is a book by Maurice Druon, in which he tells the history of the founding and development of Paris—from ancient times to Saint Louis.

The main character of the book is the city itself, which holds the memory of France. Here come alive the images of those who laid the foundation of the French capital: Julius Caesar, Julian the Apostate, the warring queens Fredegunda and Brunhilda, Charlemagne, Pierre Abélard, Saint Louis, and many others.

In “Origins and Shores,” Druon poetically recounts the Mediterranean Sea, whose shores were the birthplace of the beginnings of human culture.
