The book describes the life of creative youth in the early 2000s: children of engineers and wealthy people—young, bold, dreamers—burning through their lives. The plot centers on a girl and two boys. One of them—a privileged “major”—made a bet on her with his friends, while the other genuinely fell in love with her. The drummer defends her honor, and the guitarist fights for his feelings. Music, rehearsals, concerts, and parties unfold against the background of a real drama of a teenage girl struggling with trust—both in people and in the world: bullying because of her weight, eating issues, hysterical episodes, and aggressive behavior by her parents, as well as violence from a school teacher. In this cruel game, she has to learn from her mistakes and make a personal, conscious choice—sometimes even the wrong one. It was a short summer and a long journey toward self-discovery and happiness.
