Parachutes over the Vistula

Parachutes over the Vistula

Description
A group of Soviet intelligence officers is dropped on the western outskirts of Warsaw, in the Kampinos Forest, with the mission of studying the situation on the right bank of the Vistula. In particular, the scouts need to find out whether the Germans will defend the capital of Poland or decide to withdraw to the old border on the right bank of the Oder and in East Prussia. Landing in the enemy’s rear, the scouts learn that the Home Army (Armia Krajowa) is preparing an uprising in Warsaw to seize political power. Aleksei Savushkin and his men clarify the situation, report to the Center, join the People’s Army (Armia Ludowa) unit in Żoliborz, then end up in the old area of Poland’s capital. After that, carrying out command orders, Savushkin’s group heads toward the Magnuszew bridgehead, determines the strength of the Germans opposing the Red Army and the Polish Army, and then—returning to Warsaw—receives an order to urgently leave for Slovakia.
