The 2,000-ton “Prometheus” is a joint Soviet-American space station designed to use solar energy. The goal is to replace dwindling supplies of organic fuel on Earth. As a result of a disruption to its satellite orbit, there is a threat that the station will fall to Earth. If it falls, the radioactive power plant will explode with the force of an atomic bomb.
The book combines a political thriller with a catastrophe novel using space technologies based on projects that scientists are planning already now. The technical adviser for the novel was Gerry Webb (F.B.I.S.).
