For many centuries, the necromancer Volot of Novgorod has been tracking the killer of his family—a sinister wizard obsessed with the idea of growing a garden of plants with snow-white leaves. The enemy keeps slipping away, forcing him to start the search all over again each time. But everything changes when he raises a corpse kept in his refrigerator along with severed human fingers.
A chain of random coincidences leads to unpredictable consequences and makes Volot understand that evil has always been much closer than he could have imagined.
