Description
The novel “Father Goriot” (1834–1835), together with “Lost Illusions” and “Splendors and Miseries of Courtesans,” forms the trilogy occupying the central place in “The Human Comedy.” The novel is full of passions and sinful desires. Poor student Eugène de Rastignac is subject to all the temptations that can overwhelm the soul of a young man: he is vain and dreams of wealth.
