Description
Vladimir Markovich Sanin (1928–1989) was an tireless traveler who visited the most inaccessible places on Earth— in the Arctic, Antarctica, and at the equator. He was one of the last Soviet romantics, celebrating long-distance journeys and heroic professions. Most of his books are devoted to sailors and polar explorers, about whose lives the author knew firsthand. Sanin was always distinguished by his kind, subtle humor, which fills the novella "The Island of the Merry Robinsons," where the residents of a sanatorium located on an island try to organize a "commune."
