The novels “The Mirage Island, or A Journey into Nowhere” and “An Excess of Reason” take place in our days, but they are inseparably connected with the history of the development of civilization on Earth. In these works, the author managed to combine intriguing plots with a set of issues common to all humankind—problems whose solutions are relevant for the entire population of the planet, regardless of social and economic formations. The book successfully and quite interestingly includes the problems of the Bermuda Triangle and the disappearance of Atlantis. Using the history of an ancient continent as an example, the author shows a possible tragic path for any—our civilization included—if confrontation and the arms race continue.
