“The Island of Love” is a narrative about holy places and the saintly old priests—who, during the hardest years, were truly a support for those who suffered. The book organically weaves together stories about the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, the Pochaiv Lavra, priests who survived years of persecution, and ancient Orthodox traditions. They expand the boundaries of the present and help one grasp the eternity and holiness of the Church.
The heroes of this book are Archimandrite Kirill (Pavlov), Father Nikolai Guryanov, Father Vasily Serebrennikov, and other priests, along with simple parishioners, people of art.
