Wanting to spend some time away from the noisy city, Clay and Amanda rent a small place on Long Island and, together with their children, go on the long-awaited vacation. With relaxation in mind, they won’t notice signs, won’t feel the changes hanging in the air. Only when, at night, strangers knock on their door—introducing themselves as the house’s owners—and tell Clay and Amanda that a blackout has happened in New York and something frightening is going on everywhere, will Clay and Amanda sense that something is wrong.
